Angfartygsaktiebolaget Motala Strom was founded on February 27, 1869. It operated no fewer than 11 boats over the years carrying cargo and passengers. After a few years hiatus' for WWI and WWII, the company was ultimately renamed Rederi AB Göta Kanal.

Three of the ships remain- M/S Juno, M/S Wilhelm Tham and the newest ship built in 1931, the M/S Diana. These historical ships are unique in the world and are specially designed to fit the narrow locks in the Gota Canal. They have been carefully maintained and preserved the charm of our classic canal boats. Therefore, the interior style reflects the period when the ships were built.

Since January 2001, Gota Canal has oriented towards unique travel experiences and with a long tradition in the preservation and operation of historic vessels. This is an experience that isn't to be missed if you love unique and traditional ships. Step back in time and experience a journey you will never forget.
